Join Energy and Sustainability Leaders in Darien, Georgia for a live-streamed continuous Earth Day Summit
The Earth Day Weekend in Coastal Georgia is packed full of fun activities for the whole family. Begin the weekend with Georgia's PSC Commissioner Tim Echols and a room full of energy, sustainability and innovation experts for fast moving presentations throughout the day on Friday, April 21st. Maybe you'll help us plant some Live Oak trees or participate in our speed-limit EV parade (on Saturday at 9am) from Darien to Brunswick on State Road 17. One thing is for sure--you'll have some great food and fellowship in this beautiful setting and gorgeous new boutique hotel.
Â
Events that day end as the "Blessing of the Shrimp Fleet" festivities get underway in Darien, a small community on the coast just off of I-95. Saturday you can enjoy all the vendors and booths, see the Darien parade, and even catch the Sapelo Island Ferry for a fun day on this island, just off the coast.
Â
If you drive an EV down, join us Saturday morning at 8.30am at Darien Telephone parking lot for a speed limit EV parade to Brunswick's Coastfest led by the State Patrol. Our group will drive 17 miles to Mary Ross Park, park at the EV Chargers and have the opportunity to talk with the tens of thousands of people at the Coastfest festival about EVs. To register your EV, please email Alan Shedd at alan.shedd@opc.com
Also on Saturday, enjoy pancakes in Darien from 8am to 10am, and then enjoy the "Blessing" festivities all day long. IN Brunswick, the Coastfest has hundreds of booths, educational tables and even touch tanks for the kids.
On Sunday, stay for the official "blessing" of the shrimp fleet as shrimp boats crowd the river back in Darien for this once a year event. This is an event like no other.
